What?! you say? Wallpaper? Who on earth would eat wallpaper? If your diet consists of foods that contain ingredients such as high fructose corn syrup, white flour, and trans-fats, then you are pretty much eating wallpaper – Lots of gooey, sticky, paper like stuff without much nutritional value. These three are some of the worst offenders in our diets and are possibly the most pervasive. They are everywhere and many people aren’t aware of the health dangers they contain.
- White flour is used for virtually every packaged grain product on the market (including cereals) and is completely void of nutrition. During the toxic processing of the wheat grain the fiber is stripped away and all that is left is the starchy glutinous middle. In addition to lacking any substantial amounts of vitamins, minerals and enzymes, white flour raises blood sugar and wreaks havoc on our intestines.
- High fructose corn syrup is a fake sugar that is a thousand times sweeter than sugar and stable at room temperature. (Ever wonder why that box of cookies can last in the pantry forever?) The body doesn’t readily recognize this molecule and one of the many negative effects is that it disrupts metabolism, causing weight gain, hormonal imbalances and other problems.
- Trans-fats are man made fats that the body doesn’t know what to do with. Known as miracle fats in the 70’s & 80’s this once highly-touted chemically-altered fat has been linked to cardiovascular disease and other degenerative diseases.
These three are by no means the only “bad” guys that you may be eating. There are many “unknown” dangers hidden in our food supply. I included these here because they are so widely used and so often consumed. When you eat healthier, you will feel healthier.
