I’ve come to the conclusion that no matter who you are, where you live, or how much money you make all paths lead to the inevitable “diet” discussion.  You all know what I am talking about. Put a bunch of people in a room together and I would be willing cheap jerseys to guarantee that at some point in their conversation the topic of dieting or weight loss is bound to rear its ugly head.  Of course, this is the time of year that we begin to take inventory and realize all of the “bad” cheap NFL jerseys things we did last year, and become completely resolved to be better.  Either that or they saw the season premiere of The Biggest Loser and are terrified that  this is what they will look like if they aren’t careful!

I had the pleasure of listening to such a conversation take place in my own home recently.  While I try to stay out of these conversations, for reasons I will reveal later on, I somehow always get sucked into the debate as to which is the best program towards ultimate weight loss.  I am careful not to judge.   If there’s one thing that I learned it’s that you cannot judge a book by its cover; for the pages inside tell their own story.

For many people losing weight can be the most difficult niepo??dane task they have ever faced.  Look at the sad statistics.  There will come a time in the not too distant future where more people will be obese, than of normal weight.  That is quite scary; considering that many of those will be our own children.  Of course adolescent obesity is for another discussion entirely.

Most will agree that lifestyle or behavior modification is clearly ΓΑΣΤΡΟ-ΟΙΣΟΦΑΓΙΚΗ the route to take when it comes to achieving long term weight loss.  The dilemma is that most people don’t really know where to start, and which particular behavior should be changed first!  This is where I am pulled into the conversation.  The question:  “Which is the most important step to take first?”  My answer:  “Pick ONE or TWO behaviors that are the easiest to alter and practice it for at least one month.”  Most people are shocked by this answer.  They are expecting a litany list of forbidden foods, or specific behaviors that need changing.  Of course I know that if I did that, it is a surefire recipe for disaster.  People don’t like it when someone Balancing tells them what NOT to do; especially when it comes to food.

I try very hard NOT to focus on weight.  I like to talk about balance.  A body out of balance is an unhappy body.  Of course this too is an involved process, but the bottom line is that you need to start somewhere. That somewhere is different for everyone.  The first thing to do:  Identify ONE behavior that you know you should change.  If you aren’t currently exercising then figure out when you can schedule in at least two to three days of regular exercise.  It should be something you enjoy doing and something that you can put into Bots your schedule, just like a business appointment or meeting.  Write it down and make a commitment to it.

Take a food inventory.  If you aren’t eating at least two servings of vegetables a day then focus on that.  If you eat processed or packaged foods, or eat fast food then wholesale NBA jerseys starts with that.  But make sure it’s one issue at a time. Don’t attempt to change all of these things at once, or you are destined for failure.  I see it all the time!

Remember, it’s about balance.  Achieving that balance takes time.  Start at ONE.
